Everette Fernandes

Vice President of Corporate Work Study

Everette Fernandes immigrated from India to the United States in the late 80’s to attend Marquette University as a freshman. Prior to that, Everette spent the majority of his childhood in Kuwait City and subsequently moved to Bangalore, India to complete his High School at St. Josephs High School – a 165 year old High School with rich Jesuit traditions. While at Marquette, Everette studied Finance and Marketing and subsequently completed his MBA with a focus on
Entrepreneurial Business at Marquette and Loyola University in Chicago.

Milwaukee has been home for over 35 years and Everette has spent all those years as a business executive and leader with great corporations. Most recently, Everette was leading the Commercial business segment at Advocate Aurora and was responsible for commercial revenue within the employer segment. He led the commercial growth teams and primarily focused on making healthcare more accessible to employers through one of the largest integrated health care delivery systems in IL and WI.

Prior to Advocate Aurora, Everette was a Principal for one of the largest consulting and brokerage firms in the world – Mercer. He spent almost ten years at Mercer and led the sales and business teams for the Voluntary benefits business in North America. During his tenure, he was also on the national team
that built and launched a National Private Exchange in North America and had responsibility for the sales and consulting groups in over twenty Mercer office across the Central US. He is licensed in Health and Life and continues to be a resource for a number of employers in the area of employee benefits.

While having more than twenty years of experience with multinationals, he also spent time with local employers in the Wisconsin area. He has led growth teams at both Runzheimer International and Direct Supply – DSSI and focused on consulting strategies to help large employers manage and control expenditures pertaining to payroll, employee benefits, business travel expenses and supply chain expenditures. The solutions he has represented have always included a consulting approach that has incorporated technology, outsourced services and new product development. He is a certified coach and trainer for the Miller Heiman institute and has trained sales teams across multiple organizations.

Following a successful business career spanning 30 years, Everette comes to Cristo Rey Jesuit with a diverse perspective on furthering our mission. He firmly believes in the Social Enterprise approach to the Corporate Work Study program at the school and is anxious to make a difference in the lives of our students. His experience in working with businesses will be useful as we deepen and expand our corporate work sponsor relationships. His goal is to find great ways to not only fund the mission of Cristo Rey, but ensure that every corporate sponsor who interacts with our students realizes the power of building great future leaders in Milwaukee. Being Jesuit educated, he views this role as an opportunity to serve for the many blessings he has received.
