In the readings today, forgiveness & mercy & advice stuck out to me. Personally, I have been able to go to Reconciliation and admit to my sins. There, I have been able to ask God to forgive me. Afterwards, I realized my mistakes and stopped doing what I was doing. I don’t judge, and I give mercy to people. I also try every day to be a better version of myself.
Scripture gives us a clear path to follow. In Daniel 9, the people of God are realizing their sins and admitting them to the Lord. They ask for mercy and forgiveness. Also, in the Gospel passage from Luke, Jesus offers advice to those in this situation. He says to his disciples, “Be merciful just as your father is merciful. Stop judging and you will not be judged.”
People realize their mistakes and ask for forgiveness and mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Part of the process of receiving those blessings is to offer them to others.
Today, consider how you can be more merciful and forgive others. Is there someone you should open your heart to? Is there someone you should stop judging? How can you reconcile yourself with another?
