POSITION: Teaching Internship - Corporate Work Study Program
REPORTS TO: Director, Corporate Work Study Program
START DATE: June 4, 2018 (Summer Business Training Camp runs June 18th - July 13th)
SCHEDULE: Part-time, 15-20 hours during work day, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., flexible
PAY: Unpaid

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School uses an innovative work-study program to provide a comprehensive affordable, Catholic education to students who come from families with limited financial means. All students work five full days per month at companies across the greater Milwaukee area. Through our innovative program, students gain confidence, connect the relevance of their academic coursework to future employment, acquire skills that will benefit their career, and receive unprecedented access to the professional world.

As a member of the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) team, this position will interact with students and school personnel to execute the transformative Cristo Rey Work Study Program model as the school enters its fourth year.  

Job Summary: The Teaching Intern will be responsible for supporting the four-week Summer Business Training Camp required for the approximately 125 incoming freshman students including but not limited to curriculum planning, materials planning, classroom instruction, grading assessments, data entry, field trips, off-site training and volunteer management.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in planning and executing the Summer Business Training Camp (four weeks of training required for the incoming freshmen class)
  • Assist with classroom instruction during Summer Business Training Camp training sessions (teaching or co-teaching)
  • Assist with classroom preparation (lesson planning, assembling materials, collecting homework, etc.)
  • Administering and grading Cristo Rey Network assessments
  • Coordinating with job partner and student volunteers
  • Assist in an administrative role of the Corporate Work Study Program as needed. This could include helping with data management, record-keeping of student employees,  mailings, phone calls, writing copy for promotional materials or event planning
  • As needed, transport students to and from work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Self-motivated, high-energy, engaging, can-do attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven atmosphere
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexible, ability to change direction quickly, start-up mentality
  • Reliable and punctual, able to be ready to work at 7:00am
  • Spanish language skills preferred
  • Sensitivity to the ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of the student body
  • Desire to work with high school students
  • Ability to work in a faith‐based organization
  • Valid driver’s license; must be insurable with good driving record
  • Strong personal alignment with the Cristo Rey Catholic and Jesuit mission
