For Fall 2021, Cristo Rey Jesuit seeks a long-term substitute Physics and Pre-calculus teacher.

Cristo Rey Jesuit (CRJ) Milwaukee is part of a national network of 36 high schools transforming urban education through a unique integration of college-prep academics, professional experience, and spiritual formation with a focus on students of limited financial means.  At CRJ’s new $35 million campus, just across the Menomonee Valley from Marquette University in the heart of Milwaukee’s dynamic Clarke Square, Cristo Rey serves a diverse student body of approximately 425 young men and women and 200 alumni.  Students attend class four days per week and work in a professional setting one day per week through our innovative Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP).  It is the collective mission of our staff to ensure that our students gain admission to—and ultimately graduate from—college.  In pursuit of that goal, Cristo Rey teachers collaborate, reflect, and practice to maximize their impact each day.

Job Description 

In this full-time, temporary position, you will teach 3 sections of pre-calculus and 2 sections of physics daily to juniors and seniors.  In addition, you will assume responsibility for other core teacher responsibilities duties, including learning lab (study hall) support, running a homeroom, and maintaining classroom records and grades.

Core instructional materials will be provided, and you will adapt these materials as appropriate to meet students’ needs.

As a long-term substitute, you will have an instructional coach to support you as well as the collegial support of a grade-level team and two subject-area departments – math and science. You will also be provided with more than a week of compensated professional development prior to the school year.

  • Bachelor’s degree; teaching or substitute licensure preferred
  • Experience in teaching or related field
