We are so proud of the class of 2020 students for all of their achievements and for completing their high school journey at Cristo Rey! They have made immense contributions to the Cristo Rey Jesuit community. As the second class graduating Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee, their legacy is powerful as they demonstrated resilience and determination to achieve this major milestone in the midst of obstacles and challenges. Principal Luke Harrison expressed his appreciation to students as they have “excelled and blazed countless new trails in school, at workplaces, on athletic fields and in our community.”
For the Cristo Rey Jesuit Class of 2020, the socially distant graduation ceremony honored seniors alongside their closest family members as they were cheered on by the Cristo Rey Jesuit team. An outdoor stage was created and set-up outside of the current Cristo Rey building. Each senior signed-up for a timeslot that worked best for their family’s schedule on Wednesday, July 8 and Thursday, July 9. Seniors were announced, walked across the stage to receive their diploma to the cheers of their close family members. Then, they posed for photos in their cap and gown surrounded by loved ones celebrating their diploma moment.
Graduation wouldn’t be complete without hearing words of encouragement from seniors and recognizing student achievements. In addition to the individual ceremonies (on July 8 and 9), we’re gearing up for a memorable event! On July 24 at 1:00 p.m., the entire Cristo Rey community will gather virtually to premiere the class of 2020’s virtual celebration! This event will include:
- Reflection and prayer from Father Bill Johnson
- Student speeches
- Speeches from President Andrew Stith and Principal Luke Harrison
- Academic honors
- Announcements of all graduates (or, “Diploma procession”)
Principal Luke Harrison noted that this year isn’t a traditional graduation ceremony and believes it will be a special and meaningful tribute to the class of 2020 that has reached remarkable achievements.
We’re proud of the seniors for their accomplishments and continue to recognize them daily on our LinkedIn posts. Please follow Cristo Rey to learn more about the class of 2020.
